Airsoft is a game in which participants simulate military combat situations with replica guns. The most popular type of gun used for this purpose is the spring-powered airsoft rifle, which shoots 6mm plastic pellets at a muzzle velocity of 340–380 feet per second.   Airsoft guns fire projectiles using compressed air. These projectiles are made of plastic or metal, which is why they can be used in a game without any danger to participants. Paintball is a sport in which players compete by shooting paintballs at the opposing team of players. This often is done in woods or fields. Paintball games are usually played divided into two sides, each with a single "field" (a game area) but multiple "sides" consisting of two or more teams of up to 12 players each.  A field can be indoor, outdoor, wooded, or covered with artificial turf; it may have structures and man-made objects on it as desired by the field owner. Airsoft guns are types of firearms, which produce no projectile projectiles. They use a compressed gas, "airsoft" to propel a pellet or BB-sized ball of metal that is about 0.12" (3~5 mm) in diameter. The term "Airsoft" is derived from the Japanese word for "plastic". The advantage of this type is that it's cheaper and smaller than regular guns, which makes it a choice for beginners and people on a budget.
